4/22/2024 - NOTICE: BCMUD drought plan has been updated

Dear Brushy Creek MUD residents,

On April 11, 2024, the BCMUD Board of Directors approved an updated Drought Contingency and Emergency Water Management Plan.

A primary change under the updated plan involves drought restriction stages. Namely, the previous plan contained four stages:

  • Stage 1 Voluntary
  • Stage 2 Mandatory
  • Stage 3 Mandatory
  • Stage 4 Emergency

The updated plan has three stages:

  • Stage 1 Mandatory
  • Stage 2 Mandatory
  • Stage 3 Emergency

It is important to note that the updated plan has shifted the District from its former Stage 2 Mandatory Drought Restriction status to Stage 1 Mandatory Drought Restriction Status. However, BCMUD residents do not need to adjust their current watering practices. We have removed the voluntary Stage 1 restrictions from our plan. The new Stage 1 restrictions are mandatory, and they are the same as the former Stage 2 restrictions.

The District follows guidance on drought restrictions from the Brazos River Authority. Since the BRA is adjusting its drought plan, the District has proactively adjusted its own plan to match.

We encourage BCMUD residents to read the updated Drought Contingency and Emergency Water Management Plan. Additionally, please review the guidelines for each new stage:
