District Projects : Zebra Mussel Copper Ion Project
ZEBRA MUSSEL ABATEMENT PROJECT
Brushy Creek Municipal Utility District is currently working on a project to reduce the impact of zebra mussels on the water system. This project includes the replacement of the water intake screens, construction of a storage building to house the copper ion generator, and installation of chemical feed lines from the generator to the raw water intake facility. Using copper ion generators is a proactive approach to controlling the infestation of invasive zebra mussels.
The project began in May 2021 and is scheduled to be completed in May 2022.
