10/29/2015 - County Holding Open House Oct 29 for BC Regional Trail Phase V
Williamson County Open House October 29 6-8pm
October 8, 2015 (Williamson County, TX) – The public is invited to an Open House on October 29, 2015, to present proposed plans and gather public input on Williamson County’s Brushy Creek Regional Trail Phase V. The Open House will be held at the Fern Bluff Municipal Utility District Community Center, 7320 Wyoming Springs Drive, Round Rock, Texas, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Open House will be an informal, come and go event with no formal presentation. Project maps, exhibits and handouts will be available for review and comment. Representatives from Williamson County and their consultant will be present to answer questions about the project.
Planning for the Brushy Creek Regional Trail began in 2000. The current 7-mile long trail parallels Brushy Creek from Twin Lakes Park on US 183 in Cedar Park to its easternmost terminus along Hairy Man Road in Round Rock, Texas. Proposed improvements for Phase V trail development will begin at the easternmost terminus along Hairy Man Road and will extend eastward (generally along Brushy Creek) to the planned Bathing Beach Park in the City of Round Rock, Texas, a distance of approximately 2.7 miles. With this trail expansion project, the County also wishes to explore and consider connection possibilities with Creek Bend Road, Hairy Man Road (or the vicinity) with the Brushy Creek Regional Trail.
The purpose of the project is to enhance safety within the project area and improve mobility along the corridor. Upon completion, the trail will be 10’ wide concrete with a low water crossing and bridge that will help the public navigate through the Brushy Creek corridor. The project is currently in the feasibility, trail alignment and acquisition stage, with design development, construction, regulatory requirements, and bid/construction phases to follow.
Preliminary maps and exhibits of the project will be on display at the Open House and are currently available for review at the Williamson County Parks Department Headquarters, 219 Perry Mayfield, Leander, Texas, in the Southwest Williamson County Regional Park. Exhibits also are available for viewing on the Williamson County Parks website at http://parks.wilco.org/
All interested citizens are encouraged to attend the Open House and provide input on the project. Verbal and written comments may be presented at the Open House. Written comments not submitted during the Open House may be submitted to Williamson County Parks Department, 219 Perry Mayfield, Leander, TX 78641 or email parksandrec@wilco.org. All comments received on or before Monday, November 30, 2015 will be included in the official record of the Open House.
