Dear Brushy Creek MUD Residents,
We want to share an important update regarding a prominent live oak tree at Sendero Springs Park.
Earlier this year, a certified arborist assessed the tree and recommended monitoring it through the spring to see if it would produce new foliage. Unfortunately, it did not show any signs of recovery. After careful and extended evaluation by our District Arborist, it was determined that this tree had reached the final stages of decline.
This tree is located near the Sendero Springs Park playground, and its condition poses a significant public safety risk. Therefore, the District made the difficult decision to remove the tree as quickly as possible to ensure the safety of everyone who uses the park. Beyond a safe perimeter around the tree, we do not anticipate closing any other park amenities during removal, including the pool, pavilion, and playscape.
We understand that the removal of a large, beautiful live oak can be disappointing. Trees like this are an important part of what makes our parks special. However, maintaining safe and welcoming spaces sometimes requires making tough calls.
In the spirit of The Brushy Creek Life, we are committed not only to preserving the natural beauty of our community, but also to renewing it. Plans are being considered to replace the tree with a new one, continuing the legacy of shade and greenery in the District for years to come.
We will update this page as events warrant. Thank you for your understanding and for helping us keep BCMUD safe and thriving.
