Dear Brushy Creek MUD residents,
We want to let you know about preparations we are making ahead of the inclement weather forecast for this weekend.
District staff are working to winterize facilities, which includes:
- Turning on portable heaters
- Ensuring stops to flush valves
- Pouring biodegradable antifreeze into the toilets
When temperatures are below freezing for 24 hours or more without proper winterization, facility damage can include:
- Freezing flush valves
- Burst pipes (which creates added expense and potential additional closures due to needed repairs and cleanup)
- Frozen toilet water or broken fixtures
Additionally, District departments are taking the following measures:
- The Public Works Utility Department will turn off water-fill for District ponds.
- The Property Maintenance Department is shutting down all District-owned drinking fountains. (All District-owned irrigation and sprinkler systems will remain off for the winter season as part of normal operations.)
- The District will communicate any closures at the Community Center necessitated by the freezing temperatures, including Customer Service, on our website and via social media.
Regular operation will resume when temperatures are forecast to remain above freezing levels. For much more information and tips on winter preparedness, click here.
