Dear Brushy Creek residents,
Here in our District, we pride ourselves on living The Brushy Creek Life—a life built on strong community, amazing parks and recreation facilities, clean water, and infrastructure we can count on. We’re grateful every day for the care our residents show for this place we all call home.
That’s why we need your help with a small but extremely valuable habit that keeps our pipes flowing smoothly: please remember to trash it—don’t flush it when it comes to things like:
- Wipes (even the so-called “flushable” ones)
- Paper towels
- Rags
- Cotton balls and swabs
- Feminine products
- Dental floss
- Latex
These items may seem harmless, but they don’t break down like toilet paper and can cause serious blockages in our sewer system.
When these materials enter the wastewater system, they can bind together, snag on rough spots in the pipes, and jam pumps at lift stations. Over time, this buildup restricts flow, strains equipment, and increases the risk of backups and costly repairs.
The District spends about $75,000 each year removing debris that doesn’t break down. There's also increased maintenance time required to pull the Lift Station Pumps and manually clear rags from them. Keeping non-flushable items out of the system helps protect the pipes, pumps, and treatment equipment that serve our whole community.
A little mindfulness goes a long way. By tossing these items in the trash instead of the toilet, you’re helping protect our infrastructure, reduce repair costs, and keep our community running the way we all expect.

Thank you for doing your part—and for being the best part of The Brushy Creek Life.
