Dear Brushy Creek MUD residents,
Due to the lack of rain replenishing our water sources, the Stage 1 Mandatory Conservation Schedule is now in effect for Brushy Creek MUD.
Brushy Creek Municipal Utility District has developed a state-approved Drought Contingency and Emergency Water Management Plan to reduce the risk to its water sources (Lake Georgetown and Stillhouse Hollow Lake) falling to critically low levels during a drought. Since the District receives water under the jurisdiction of the Brazos River Authority (BRA), it also enforces BRA’s conservation plan.
Due to drier-than-normal conditions, the BRA has implemented Stage 1 of their Drought Contingency Plan for Lake Somerville, Stillhouse Hollow Lake, and Lake Georgetown.
All customers and water entities drawing water from the affected reservoirs have been asked to enact Stage 1 of their drought plans. At BCMUD, Stage 1 of our Drought Contingency and Emergency Water Management Plan requires mandatory Demand Management Response Measures be taken to achieve a 20% reduction in daily water demand.
