10/12/2023 - NOTICE: Highland Horizon Pool to close for the winter

Dear Brushy Creek MUD residents:

First and foremost, we want to express our unwavering appreciation for our vibrant community. The residents of the Brushy Creek MUD are at the heart of everything we do, and your well-being and quality of life are our utmost priority.

The District would like to inform you about a recent decision regarding the operation of the Highland Horizon Pool during the winter months.

After careful consideration and analysis of historical data and operational costs, the District has decided to close the Highland Horizon Pool from Nov. 1, 2023 through Feb. 29, 2024. We understand this decision may come as a disappointment to some of our residents who enjoy year-round access to the Highland pool. However, we would like to clarify the reasons behind this decision.

Historically, the Highland Horizon Pool experiences significantly lower visitation during the winter months, which results in a disproportionately high cost per visitor compared with spring, summer, and fall.

The most significant expense at Highland Horizon during the winter months is the cost of heating the pool. Keeping the water at a comfortable temperature during the colder months is not only expensive but also unsustainable, as the pool often goes unused by our residents during this period. By temporarily closing the pool, we can significantly reduce these operational costs and allocate resources more efficiently.

We understand the importance of community amenities like the Highland Horizon Pool, and we are committed to providing you with the best services while managing our resources responsibly. We anticipate that this decision will help us maintain the pool’s overall quality and provide a more sustainable and cost-effective operation.

We are continually looking for ways to enhance and optimize our services to meet the diverse needs of our community. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this seasonal closure or any other matters related to BCMUD services, please do not hesitate to contact us. We value your input and will be happy to address any inquiries.

We appreciate your understanding and support during this time, and we look forward to continuing to serve our community to the best of our abilities.
