10/12/2023 - SPOTLIGHT: Several kids' basketball programs are open for registration

George Tunnell, better known as Coach Geo to his coworkers and the athletes he trains, started teaching in 2011 at the Brushy Creek MUD.

Since he started coaching, he’s led more than 24 teams at the BCMUD alone. However, his resume includes stints at the Brentwood Christian School, Austin Royals Basketball program, Jr. NBA, and the YMCA in Odessa, Texas.

Currently, he is coaching the OTX Becomers and the Skills class at BCMUD, both of which have programs coming up that are now open for registration. 

 Skills Class
-Wednesdays from 3:35-4:15 p.m.
-Boys and girls
-Second through fifth grade
-Next session runs Jan. 3-Feb. 7

Coach Geo Says: This class focuses on kids with skills ranging from beginner to intermediate, and it’s all about learning to love basketball with challenging skills, competition, fun games, and drills.

OTX Becomers 
-Sundays, times vary based on section
-Boys and girls
-Fourth through ninth grade
-Next session starts Nov. 5

Coach Geo Says: This class teaches tried-and-true methods such as the Pro Shot System and Shoot Like the Pros and emphasizes mental toughness and playing through mistakes.

In addition to the Skills and OTX Becomers classes, registration is now open for the Winter Youth Basketball League and Brandy Perryman Winter Camp.

Winter Youth Basketball League 
-Weeknight practices and Saturday games
-Boys and girls
-Kindergarten through tenth grade
-Next season starts Jan. 20

Brandy Perryman Winter Shooting Camp
-Two-day camp
-Ages 7-16
-Next sessions start Dec. 20 and Jan. 2
