11/29/2010 - Sailfish Swimming Success ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Following the first and very successful USA swimming meet hosted at the Sendero Springs Pool, in October just 3 weeks ago, the Sailfish turned heads Saturday at the Texas Gold Best Times Meet held at Southwestern University. The Sailfish finished 3rd out of 13 teams, behind the Heart of Texas Aquatics swim team from Houston and the San Antonio Sharks.

At this meet, it was all about which team could demonstrate the most improvement. The meet was scored based on calculating a percentage of improvement where each swimmer attempted to beat their best time in as many as 5 events. For example, our 9 and under swimmers outperformed everyone with a time improvement rate of 75% or 3 out of 4 swims per swimmer were an improvement on their best time.

The Sailfish showed more improvement than any of the other local teams in attendance. I was told by other coaches on deck, “I’m jealous of your time improvements” and “where did you come from?” As if that was not enough, 15 of our swimmers set 42 team records!

Congratulations swimmers for an outstanding team performance!
