TOPIC TOURS COOKING: Culinary Presidential Traditions & History
Friday, August 23rd
10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
We will watch two videos exploring foods that bring people together,
including state dinners at the White House: a former presidential
pastry chef makes berry pie, and we’ll get insight into President
Eisenhower’s savory beef stew. We’ll also tour the gardens at Thomas
Jefferson’s Monticello, where plants that became central to American
cooking were cultivated, and make Field Pea soup and an authentic
macaroni and cheese with culinary historian Michael W. Twitty. All
recipes will be provided!
