Day Trip to Newman's Castle and Blacksmith Shop
Join the Fun! Brushy Creek Group Trips for Ages 30+
Hop on a bus and experience the old-world charm of Newman’s Castle, a one-of-a-kind castle complete with moat, drawbridge, and courtyard just outside of Bellville.
-
The self-guided tour and lunch will last about 1.5 to 2 hours. Lunch of sandwich and chips is provided at the castle.
-
There is quite a bit of walking and climbing so be sure to wear close-toed shoes for this adventure.
Following the castle tour, we will go to Bellville to visit the Phenix Knives Blacksmith Shop. This 1891 working blacksmith shop showcases skills from a bygone age. We will watch a 45-minute presentation by a talented blacksmith who will be forging metal as he talks to us.
- Please know this building is old and subject to outdoor temperatures, so if it’s cold or hot outside, it will be the same inside the Blacksmith Shop.
** Wheelchairs can not be accommodated on this trip since the older buildings are not wheelchair-accessible.
